when

Rue de saint peres 6, Paris

“Je ne suis pas un designer, mais un architecte qui fait du design”. (I am not a designer, I am an architect who designs.) This is what Jean Nouvel has to say about his work creating furniture and objects. The result is gathered in a rich collection on exhibition from 27 October 2016 to 12 February 2017 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

More than 100 pieces of furniture will be distributed throughout the museum in a sort of dialogue with the permanent collections, including those dedicated to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. All of the furnishings by Jean Nouvel for the Molteni Group will be on display. The architect has worked in collaboration with Molteni for over 20 years, beginning with the project for the Fondation Cartier (1994) and with the creation of a design icon of the 20th century, the Less table, which later evolved into LessLess and LessLess Color, with the sheet-metal being replaced by aluminum. Instantly recognizable, functional and above all lightweight, the table is manufactured by UniFor for office environments and is also proposed by Molteni&C for domestic use. The exhibition will also include Cases, a surprisingly simple and flexible modular office furnishing system, and the exclusive Table au KM, an extra-large table in solid wood, produced by in a limited edition of six versions and distributed by Gagosian Gallery and Gallerie Patrick Seguin.
Jean Nouvel's collaboration with the Molteni Group has consolidated over time with the execution of several major contract projects, office design projects and special exhibitions, in particular for UniFor.
