UniFor is supporting the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris for the exhibition “L’Intime, de la chambre aux réseaux sociaux” by producing the set up for the section “Sexualities: from books to sex toys”.

From 15 October 2024 to 30 March 2025, the Central Hall of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris will feature the exhibition “L’Intime, de la chambre aux réseaux sociaux”. Curated by Christine Macel (chief curator of the exhibition) and Fulvio Irace (exhibition curator and design and architecture historian), with scientific input from designer and architect Jean-Louis Fréchin, and the set up by Studio Italo Rota - Italo Rota, Alessandro Pedretti, Giacomo Guarneri, and Carola Mazzocchi.

“This exhibition will be part of a program which aims to explore sociological themes over a broad historical period; showing how the design object relates transformations or approaches that reveal an era. […] Private space is a notion that has varied over time, revealed by the architecture and design that bear witness to these evolutions.” (madparis.fr)

The freestanding exhibition system, designed by Studio Italo Rota with support from UniFor, features a metal frame with ecological panels by Gruppo Saviola. The connections between the panels are accentuated by elegant L-shaped aluminium profiles that highlight the system’s modularity and directional changes. The dominant colour in this section of the exhibition is blue. Lacquered panels are interspersed with Sapeli mahogany-finished ones, creating niches for the artworks. The choice of colours and finishes also enhances the visual references and the dialectic of space related to sexualities. An uninterrupted game of glances that emphasises different levels of perception, closure and unveiling.

The renewed partnership with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, which previously featured pieces by architect Jean Nouvel for UniFor in the 2016 exhibition “Mes Meubles d’Architecte”, reflects UniFor’s ongoing dedication to cultural engagement. Since its establishment, UniFor has been active in significant cultural scenarios worldwide. This dedication also includes social sustainability initiatives, aimed at educating and inspiring people on culture, design, and architecture.
