RP - MDL System
The new Vancouver offices of McCarthy Tétrault, an important law firm boasting ample international experience in every legal sector, occupies three floors of a prestigious, centrally-located skyscraper that offers spectacular views of the city. The three floors are linked by internal stairs and feature layouts that are decidedly unconventional for a large legal firm. The hierarchical organization of space has been abandoned in order to better foster collaboration, creativity, and productivity. The lawyers’ offices, delimited by transparent partition walls, are all of the same size and positioned in the central part of the building, in close contact with their assistants.
The perimeter of the building is occupied mainly by spaces set aside for meetings, informal gatherings, group and task workspaces, and relaxation zones. The furnishings, materials, finishes and colors complement and highlight the refined simplicity of the spatial design, aimed at creating a pleasant and functional work environment.
